Brendon Nerenberg

I am a young digital communications professional working in progressive politics. Currently, I work as a social media manager with a focus in rapid response work. As I have recently moved to Washington D.C., I am looking to make connection with like-minded individuals that are adjusting to the work-life balance of the nation's capital.

My Story

Hi there! My name is Brendon Nerenberg. I am a digital communications professional who is currently employed as the Social Media Manager for the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). I began my work at HRC in the fall of 2022 as the Digital Intern and continued as the intern until May 2023 before joining the team full time in August 2023. In my work at HRC, I work closely with the Digital Communications team to strategize, develop, and manage all of HRC's social media content. Primarily, I have led on political, rapid response moments and have worked to integrate culture and internet trends into our work. My work has covered topics such as the 2024 presidential election, the 2024 & 2025 state legislation cycles, HIV & Health Equity, judicial decisions, local, state, and federal politics and other organizational priorities. In addition to creating content for social media, I have contributed to HRC's quarterly magazine, EQUALITY Magazine, to update HRC's members and supporters and HRC's political campaign work.

Prior to my time at HRC, I studied Political Science and Strategic Communications at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH (2019-2023). While at Ohio State, I worked at the student organization BuckeyeThon, which is a Children's Miracle Network Dance Marathon. As the Director of Dance Marathon, I oversaw the yearlong planning of the Dance Marathon, which serves as the culmination of our fundraising year. I managed a team of nine, oversaw a $200,000 budget, and executed a revamped, socially-distant event in which we raised over $1 million for Nationwide Children's Hospital.

I chose Ohio State for college because I am a born and raised, and very proud, Buckeye. I was born in Middletown, OH (ps. Middletown is NOT Appalachia) and grow in the Cincinnati/Dayton area. As an Ohio State fan, sports has always played a huge role in my life, but as a Cincinnati Reds & Bengals fan, I often wish it hadn't :). If I am not thinking about politics and the world around us or watching sports, I am either working out listening to the saddest Taylor Swift song you can imagine or dancing with my friends to the latest pop song. Spread Joy.
